Good place to rest your soul
I've came here every few uears, and I can say it's definately improved. The Jesus statue hung on the ceiling always used to scare me, now I saw it was removed. I am more accustomed to the traditional Catholic seating, here is more of a theatere set up. All in all, it is a lovely church and if I lived here, I would definately attend.
+JMJ Stopped in for a visit because I love visiting Catholic Churches. Rather modern in its architecture and arrangement of the interior of the Church, but still a lovely place of prayer and worship. As with other Catholic Churches, their parish bulletin gives details about parish involvement, within and outside of the Church building. There are lots of meeting rooms and a library. Being a former active member of the Legion of Mary (married or single lay men, women, youth working with their parish priest to be involved in an apostolate of spiritual works of mercy and a committed prayer life), I was glad to see the displays of faith-related materials. Very encouraging for anyone seeking (shyly) to learn more about the Catholic faith without actually having to interact with anyone ~ until they are ready, of course! Why would anyone visit a Catholic Church unless they are seeking for spiritual nourishment?
Great Church, great congregation, great atmosphere. If you're younger, the 0900 Mass is for you. If you're older, the 1700 Mass is for you. Beautiful church on top of a hill overlooking the entire downtown area.
My son and I have been to Sacred Heart many times. I tried giving this place a chance, however, I give up. I will not return. Congregation acts as if they've never seen African American Catholics before. We walk in and it's the same thing. Blank stares, unfriendly people who act as if they don't want to shake our hands. I'm good on being around fake 'Catholics'.
